Most computer users find out after a while that if they hit the three keys: Ctrl + Alt + Del at the same time, Windows opens the "Task Manager". This gives heaps of information about what is running on the computer at any given time; one of the Tabs at the top says "Processes". But, how can this help you make your computer go faster? If you go to the following site, you will find a library of what all those processes are: www.processlibrary.com Once you know that, you can decide whether your computer needs a particular process running all the time and go to the program's options and stop it starting when the computer first starts. For example, in MSN Messenger in Options - General, it gives you a choice to "Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows". If the program doesn't give you that choice, you can use start - run and type in "msconfig". Under the "Startup" tab you can untick the process. Just make sure that you don't turn off a critical windows process or you will have to log in using Safe mode and retick the box of the process you've turned off.
OK, I can hear you saying, "But that is all too complicated". This is simpler. I use WinTasks 5.0 Professional software which analyses all of the tasks running in Windows |
